The calculator
A typical week, the checks, and the estimate.
Change an hour, a ratio or a rate and everything follows: the hours summary, the checks and the amounts, each line priced as the NDIA's tool prices it.
A simplified estimate, not financial or funding advice. It does the arithmetic of the NDIA's provider SIL roster of care tool (Version 4.0, June 2026) on the hours and rates you enter. A roster of care is optional and is not submitted to the NDIA; every amount here is an estimate, and the actual supports are agreed with the participant, or their nominee, once the NDIA approves their plan funding. This page is not made by or affiliated with the NDIA.
The participant
Price level
Standard intensity is the default price level. Higher intensity applies where the participant needs frequent assistance — at least once a shift — with behaviours that need intensive positive behaviour support, or a worker with one or more of the high intensity support skills in the NDIS Practice Standards' skills descriptors.
Where the support is delivered
The location is where the support is delivered: national in Modified Monash Model areas 1 to 5, remote in MM 6 and very remote in MM 7, with the towns the NDIA reclassifies as remote or very remote (the Pricing Schedule's Isolated Towns Modification).
With a crossover shift, its hours from its start time count as Mon–Fri 8pm–12am hours, and the weekly check allows up to 70. A shift that starts before 8pm and runs on past the participant's sleep start counts, from its start, as active overnight hours — the NDIA's tool counts it that way.
Hours of support in a typical week
The NDIA's tool builds this table from a grid of half-hour blocks, a row a day for each resident, and lets you type the table instead (its Step 3.2a). Here you type it: each week's hours for each shift type and ratio, counting a half-hour block as 0.5. Count SIL support only — funded community participation, supported employment and time with family sit outside this table — and include handovers at the ratio worked.
An invented example: one participant in a three-person house, at the 2026-27 national limits. Change any of it, or clear the table and enter your own. 1:3 most of the day, 1:1 for an hour each weekday morning and two hours on each weekend day, community participation 9am–3pm on weekdays, and a sleepover every night.

How to count each shift type
Mon–Fri (6am–8pm)
Weekday hours from 6am to 8pm, leaving out sleeping time and any afternoon or evening shift that starts before 8pm.
Mon–Fri (8pm–12am)
Weekday hours from 8pm to midnight, leaving out sleeping time. A shift that starts before 8pm counts here from its start time: tick the crossover box.
Saturday
Every hour of support on the Saturday while the participant is awake, with the active overnight hours that fall on it.
Sunday
Every hour of support on the Sunday while the participant is awake, with the active overnight hours that fall on it.
Sleepovers
Nights per week with a sleepover, weekends included — a night shared across ratios splits between them, 0.5 and 0.5.
Active overnight (Mon–Fri)
Weekday hours when a worker is awake through the participant's sleep; Sunday night's hours after midnight count on Monday.
A shared ratio divides an hour's price: at 1:3 one worker supports three residents, so each is priced a third of the hour; at 2:1 two workers support one participant, so the hour is priced twice. The NDIA's tool takes ratios from 1:1 to 9:20 — 1:1, 2:1 and up to 19 more.
Public holidays
Public holidays count as 24-hour days, up to 12 a year, spread across the ratios by the hours at each — the button does it, and you can change the split. The typical week already prices those days at weekday rates, so the NDIA's tool adds the difference: the public holiday rate less the average of the weekday daytime, evening and active overnight rates, for 24 hours a day, spread over 52 weeks.
Irregular support days
Irregular support days cover unplanned days at home, such as a few days of illness. Each is a 16-hour day at 1:1, half at the weekday daytime rate and half at the weekday evening rate. The NDIA's tool fills in the most a plan can include: 10.3 days a year at standard intensity, 15.2 at higher intensity. Their amount sits beside the weekly amount, on its own line.
Rates · standard intensity, national
The price limits are the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27's, the same the NDIA's tool carries, for the price level and region above. Your own rates go up to each limit, as in the NDIA's tool.

A roster of care
Optional, an estimate, agreed with the participant.
A roster of care is optional
A roster of care is optional, and it is not submitted to the NDIA. The NDIA may use one, alongside other information, when it decides a participant's SIL supports: if the participant would like their planning discussions to consider it, give it to them and their support coordinator to include in their home and living supports request or plan reassessment.
A roster of care describes a typical week of supports, and every amount it shows is an estimate. The actual supports are agreed with the participant, or their nominee, once the NDIA approves their plan funding.
Providers put the roster of care together with the participant, or their nominee. In a shared home the NDIA's tool takes every resident of the house, ten to a file — NDIS participants and others, the others named Non-NDIS A, Non-NDIS B — so the house's staffing is seen whole; this page works out one participant at a time.
The roster of care tool is an Excel workbook for up to ten residents of one home, with a guide to filling it in. Both open from the NDIA’s website, with the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27 the limits come from.
The SIL price limits in the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27, effective 24 September 2026 — the figures the NDIA's roster of care tool carries, and the ones this calculator uses.

In Corella, each property has a Roster of care tab: a ratio for each of four time bands across the 168-hour week, adding up staffed hours and an indicative yearly cost at one flat hourly rate — handy for seeing what a change of ratio does. On the roster, one shift can support several residents, each charged an equal share of its hours at their own price, with the group on the invoice line (1:3 for three residents), and Settings → NDIS prices checks every priced line in your price book against the NDIS price limits Corella holds for 2026-27.
For one participant: the hours of support in a typical week by shift type and ratio, the checks the NDIA's roster of care tool applies, and three estimates — the weekly SIL amount, the annual amount over 52 weeks, and the annual irregular supports amount — at the 2026-27 NDIS price limits or your own rates up to them. It does the same arithmetic as the NDIA's tool, Version 4.0 of June 2026.
Is a roster of care required?
A roster of care is optional, and it is not submitted to the NDIA. The NDIA may use one, alongside other supporting information, to decide a participant's SIL supports. If the participant would like their planning discussions to consider it, give it to them and their support coordinator to include in their home and living supports request or plan reassessment.
Where do the price limits come from?
From the NDIS Pricing Schedule 2026-27, effective 24 September 2026 — the same limits the NDIA's tool carries. Standard intensity uses items 01_801_0138_1_1 to 01_806_0138_1_1, higher intensity 01_811_0138_1_1 to 01_816_0138_1_1, and sleepovers 01_832_0138_1_1, the SIL items for supports on or after 1 July 2026. Each has a national, a remote and a very remote limit.
How does a shared ratio change the amount?
It divides the hour's price by the people sharing it and multiplies it by the workers: an hour is priced at the rate × staff ÷ participants. At 1:3 a weekday daytime hour is a third of $73.58, about $24.53; at 2:1 it is twice $73.58, $147.16. A sleepover night is shared the same way.
How are public holidays counted?
As 24-hour days, up to 12 a year, spread across the ratios by the hours at each. The typical week already prices those days at weekday rates, so the NDIA's tool adds the difference: the public holiday rate less the average of the weekday daytime, weekday evening and active overnight rates, for 24 hours a day, spread over 52 weeks. One public holiday at 1:1 at the standard national limits adds $2,025.28 a year.
What are irregular support days?
Days of unplanned support, such as a participant staying home sick instead of going to a regular community group. The NDIA's tool counts each as a 16-hour day at 1:1, half at the weekday daytime rate and half at the weekday evening rate, and fills in the most a plan can include: 10.3 days a year at standard intensity and 15.2 at higher intensity. At the standard national limits, 10.3 days come to $12,743.16 a year, shown apart from the weekly amount.
What do the checks look for?
The maximums in the NDIA's tool: Mon–Fri 6am–8pm 70 hours per week; Mon–Fri 8pm–12am 20 hours, or 70 with a crossover shift; Saturday 24; Sunday 24; sleepovers 7 nights; active overnight 100 hours; 168 hours per week in all, sleepovers apart; and public holidays 12 days a year, or 7.5 hours per week averaged. A check that trips warns, as in the NDIA's tool, and the amounts are still worked out.
What is a crossover shift?
An afternoon or evening shift on a weekday that starts before 8pm. Its hours from its start time count as Mon–Fri 8pm–12am hours, at the weekday evening rate, and the evening check then allows up to 70 hours. When the shift runs on past the participant's sleep start, the NDIA's tool counts it, from its start, as active overnight hours.
How do I count the hours without the half-hour grid?
Add up each week's hours of SIL support for each shift type and ratio, counting a half-hour block as 0.5. Weekday daytime runs from 6am to 8pm and evening from 8pm to midnight, sleeping time left out; Saturday and Sunday take every awake hour of support on the day and the active overnight hours that fall on it; active overnight takes the weekday hours a worker is awake through the participant's sleep; sleepovers are nights. The NDIA's tool lets you type its summary the same way, in its Step 3.2a.
Standard or higher intensity?
Standard is the default price level. Higher intensity applies where the participant needs frequent assistance, at least once a shift, with behaviours that need intensive positive behaviour support, or a worker with one or more of the high intensity support skills in the NDIS Practice Standards' skills descriptors. A participant's needs level and price level are two different things.
Can I use my own rates?
Yes, up to each price limit, as in the NDIA's tool: choose Your own rates and type them, and the amounts use them. A rate above its limit is refused. The irregular support days use your weekday daytime and evening rates.
How does it round?
Nothing is rounded along the way, as in the NDIA's tool: every line keeps its full value, the weekly amount adds them, and the annual amount is 52 times the unrounded weekly amount. The amounts are shown to the cent, with half a cent rounding up; the NDIA's tool shows them to ten cents.
Where does what I type go?
Nowhere: the calculator runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or saved, and closing the page clears it. There is nothing to sign up for.
